Dr. John P. Alford graduated from Auburn University in 1975 and served in United States Army as a Captain. His position was in research at Walter Reed and Fort Mead large animal research farm. During the beginning years, he also moonlighted in Washington D.C. with a Small Animal Emergency Clinic and weekends in a Maryland mixed practice facility. Partnering with his wife in 1981, they purchased Live Oak Animal Clinic in Live Oak, Florida. Over the years, he has focused his practice on Equine Reproduction, Lameness Exams and general preventative and curative health care for large animals. Dr. John enjoys working on his stock car as much as he does racing at South Georgia Motor Sports Park. In his off time he likes to take his wife, children and grandchildren fishing, saltwater or freshwater. Time spent at the clinic not treating patients is monopolized by “Jake” his Mule and clinic mascot.
